My beautiful wife, Chung Ho, gave me a week at the Rocking Z ( Z Top ) Ranch in Wolfcreek, MT for my 40th birthday present. I've always wanted to go to a dude ranch after seeing the movie, City Slickers, with Billy Crystal.
The week was packed with beautiful scenery, down to earth people, great food and countless rides on my appaloosa named, Spunky. On our last night at the ranch, my wife and I went with Deb, the wrangler, to the local drinking hole for a few cold ones. Gene and Joe's is a dive you won't soon forget. The bartender, Mont Mont, brought us over 3 chilled mugs filled with a dark nectar from a local brewery. I've never been a huge fan of dark beers since my drunken ( and short ) days at Western Michigan--GO BRONCOS. But, after 2 Moose Drools, the pain in my rear was forgotten and I'd found a new favorite beer.
I came away from my trip to Montana with a deeper appreciation of the Rocky Mountain landscape and the importance of the wilderness as a precious resource. I'll never ever go on another rafting trip without some alumabottles in my cooler.
On our way out of Montana, we stopped at a liquor store to pick-up 3 cases of Drool for the long drive home. I hope in the near future to be able to buy Moose Drool in my local store in Middleville, MI. If not, I'll be back !!!!
