September 2000, trip to EBR1 (breeder reactor museum), but after Labor Day it's closed...
So I took a side trip into Atomic City, population 32. The [national brand] bottle I'd asked for at the bar (actually, combination gas station/post office/ general store/bar, the only business in town) foamed over when the barmaid opened it, so she chucked it and grabbed me a Moose Drool, a DAMN FINE BEER.
Her two-year-old played on top of the bar while we shot the breeze.
That's a slice of America you rarely find at all, let alone here in New York (West Point).
My friends in San Diego were pleasantly shocked by the six pack I drove down there.
